CraigsList 'search' is way to limiting, CraigLook got me to seek, CraigsList is now dead to me.
When I search I want to do it all USA. CraigsList will not do that... CraigsList just lost a seeker by killing CraigsLook! eBay here we come!

Why not just make a Craiglook app? I'm sure it would make a million dollars right away... Anyway without this site I don't even search craigslist anymore its a waste. I hate having to click every link without seeing a cascade of thumbnails instead.

Releasing the code or selling the code to paying users to use locally on their machines would be a great idea. Either that or put the code on a offshore server.

The changes have made this site useless. I used to love this - I'm posting in the Craigslist forum.

The problem is LOOK worked so well it worked in anonymity. When we purchased things we didn't tell the seller we, "FOUND THAT ON CRAIGLOOK!" Since they listed on Craigslist the public continued to assume that any sale was because Craigslist provided the necessary publicity to get their item sold. I'm sure most never knew something may have sold because of the great SEARCH service of LOOK, hence it never became a household name and its loss isn't reaching the press.
I know when I contacted sellers most were skeptical or downright angered that someone from outside their region reached out to them. Craigslist has done a fine job pushing the notion that an outsider is likely to be up to no good. Mention PayPal, the best way to pay someone you can't bike over to and listers would run like you mentioned some bomb material or something.
The energy we are expending complaining now needed to have been spent BRAGGING ABOUT LOOK so that it moved up in fame to become a household brand.
Unfortunately Look just didn't get advertised enough. Craigs isn't losing users over this because nothing tells the person with the ad, "you've lost 100 views per day now that there is no LOOK."
It was like a ghost operation and ghosts aren't typically appreciated or missed.
I wish CNN would pick up on this. Doesn't someone aaaaanyone have press connections in this entire community?

I quit using or trying to search craigslist. It is just to ridiculous to bother.
I did post in the feedback and forums. There is a lot of feedback about this gross mistake, but apparently craigslist would rather loose users rather than make it work. No other craigslist search works as well as craiglook did. -

Why no news on this? How did Craigslist make such a shameful move with no media repercussions?

I also live on the border of one of Craigslist's locked down regions. In order to search a 10-mile radius, I have to perform two identical searches in two separate sub-sites!
I find Craigslist's actions shameful! That's fine if they want to remain archaic in their interface; but to squash progress of another developer bringing quality traffic and happy customers?
Craigslist happily promoted prositition and pornography until mandated to cease. But god forbid you improve their technology, they show no mercy. It's time for Craigslist alternatives to rise up. Craigslist needs to shrivel and disappear.

Has anyone else been posting complaints in the Craigslist feedback area?
Maybe we could all get them to do something in there. -

I KNOW I KNOW but folks just keep complaining in this FORUM like you have the power to actually move an actual court case forward with momentum just because you wish it. Billionaires do this but not the rest of us. My guess is years before it can even get on a court docket (or to whatever tribunal/round table/mediation legal thingy things like this must get to and through).
In the meantime people just spread the word by your own mouth that listings should go over d'ere or here!
The owner of this site can't do that on his/her own and for legal reasons and or just plain manners can't say, "don't list there, list here".
But I CAN!
GEEZ, Not Rocket Science.
My shopping has slowed to a Crawl. I can't stand it! Especially when the solution is so simplistic.

Qrysta,
It makes perfects sense what you have said. If you liked the idea of Craiglook and want the service to be better - you need to help it just a little bit. List your items here, share it with your friends, and watch it grow of course...
I have no doubt the service will get back to normal with the users' support.
At the same time, we're working on what the users have demanded - getting the search database back to normal. I can't share many details, but it's getting there. Slower than I anticipated, but getting there...

NO one seems to be paying attention. All you have to do is get everyone to post to OODLE instead of Craigslist and claz will then have just as many listings as it ever had. LOOK was loading 30,000,000 listings a day. Now just 5-9 million listings without the List. If the 30 million moved their tails simply with a click or even just put the same ad on Oodle that they have on Craigs then CLAZ will be back as robust as it ever was because Oodle also legally stopped by Craigs when they started up isn't blocking CLAZ from searching their listings. This isn't THAT hard but folks are complaining here instead of spreading that concept all over. Telling CList not to stop Look isn't going to work and telling Look to work it out with List is a waste of time because Craigs isn't interested in compromise. They hadn't given permission for their listings to be searched and put out on another site and no matter how great the idea they wanted it stopped and they stopped it just like you would stop someone from looking through your house and publishing the findings.
Just LIST EITHER ON CLAZ itself or on OODLE!! for heaven's sake.
Costs nothing and is easy breezy.
*UNITED* folks around the nation together, could have accomplished this is a week, tops. Oodle dot com. not hard to find not hard to use Get On With It so that we can all shop. If Oodle has to do a big ad campaign next thing you know they'll be charging fees so lets do this on our own like the pioneers we are known for being.
What's not to get about this?

I agree with everyone who has posted here. Without Craiglook I wouldn't have purchased 90% of the items I have off of Craigslist. How could Craiglook have been a bad thing ? What possible reason could Craigslist had for removing Craiglook from the airwaves ? Shame on Craigslist. Guess I just won't be able to buy/sell to a wide audience of buyers/sellers.
